That's very quibbley. Does anyone think Hinchliffe business is worth having, and if so, how much would you value it at?

Yes and not as much as the owner thinks it's worth.

ECW and AWI Steve Hezzlewood yes; artillery and equipment yes; the rest not so much.

The medieval range used to be good I remember.

If anyone does a tentative query I would be interested in the number.

Hincliffe does have a certain cachet, and sold as 25mm proper could have a reasonable return given the nostalgia market.

I would have been interested in acquiring the 10mm Ranges (ex Wargames South) but they have unfortunately already been sold.
There is no set price at present for the Hinchliffe ranges and, as I understand it, Iain is inviting offers rather than setting a figure.

Yup, as others on here have found out, that approach leads to having to trawl through numerous stupid bids by "bottom feeders".

I have always found Ian excellent to deal with, I have sold him some figures over the years and found his price given fair.
Though I have bought more from him than I have sold again always at fair prices, his unpainted Hinchcliffe unpainted are priced very reasonable and he always done discounts on big orders.
The price of businesses are always subjective to the seller and objective to the buyer and yes at times are not worth as much as you would like to think.
As pointed out its a 25mm cache market I would not mind the Hinchcliffe business but I don't think Mrs Willz would appreciate the house filled up with several ton of lead

This. His definition of what constitutes an "excellent" painting standard defies any explanation. Even drug-related ones.

Brendon have a look on flea-bay and see what some sellers class as professionally painted wargame figures, it puts Ian's definition in perspective .

Oh, to be sure there are worse out there, but those are invariably over-generous definitions by a seller trying to get you to at least look at hi stuff, if not actually buy it. Ian's problem is the sheer - and often massive - inconsistency over masses and masses of eBay lots he has put up for sale - there are actually some lots where you think "Hmm, they aren't half bad!" and he's only rated them average, or even poor.
