Had a look - 2 questions
I like the horse flesh, the coats look rich and well covered - howm any coats?
The helmets - presumably no wash but the lighter bits look to me to be all hand painted so I assume you never use washes
Do you find it really time consuming?

It's all just layered up in 3 or 4 layers, depending on the part of the mini, from a basecoat of black over a black primer. It's pretty much the same way I have been painting for 30 years so it's not that time consuming really. Not quick; but not protracted.
I go a bit Zen when I painting so it never drags out. I can paint a lot faster, these Beja were completed in just a few sittings of an hour or two:
