Yes that all makes much more sense now. Thanks for all the input! You're right about not trusting the internet and particulatly random pintrest posted plates. The flag on the lance has me now thinking Austrian as its black and yellow.
A little part of me hopes its all a deliberate wargamer wind up. I'm enthused to try and find some more souces for the period now but that might have to wait.
Bavarian Dragoon?
Re: Bavarian Dragoon?
Plate 57 in Vanished Armies (watercolours from 1913) shows a trooper of the Austro Hungarian army 7th Dragoons in "winter service dress".
The helmet is as shown in Tim's picture and the chap is wearing a boot length dark brown trench coat. It might explain the coat colour in Tim's picture. There's no clue as to the uniform beneath the coat but the dragoons on plates 51, 52 and 56 have red breaches. Jackets are pale blue.
The lancer on the right of Tim's picture is a dead spit for 6th Lancers (Austro Hungary), plate 58.

Don't be silly Baron, no sensible person would be so obsessed, if only for the reasons you give.BaronVonWreckedoften wrote: ↑Sat Jun 25, 2022 9:33 am .................
