1st Edition Kings of War routinely used a Chess Clock to "moderate" turns.
It was interesting as it automatically penalised the command and control of horde armies, giving less thinking time whilst moving due to the number of figures.

In all fairness, I've played literally hundreds of competition games, and examples like this I have encountered maybe 2 to 3 times...
As they say in Oz, we're not playing for sheep stations...

yeh ive played a fair few "friendly" games that were shit. The competition games i've been in i've always enjoyed.

Wargaming with screws - from an article in Miniature Wargame Magazine August 1969. This was the first wargaming magazine I bought for the princely sum of 3/6.
