I like to use 25x50 pill bases for my Cav...gives loads of flexibility and can be used for both skirmish and massed battle. Use 4 x 3 slot sabots for each unit....and I can use the same sabots for any period (dependent on the basing style, which all tends to be quite similar)

First of all -well done Donald on a choice of brilliant rules
Mine are based for GdeA but I always base in 6 or 8 figures and even then have resorted to making sabot bases that will move a battalion as a column or a British unit in line - the reason being that you can play big games with these rules and from what I've seen of your games that's something you seem to do
For 28s my bases are 45 wide x 40 deep but I only have French, Russian and Polish
In all scales my battalion sizes are generally 36 figs for French & allies(6x6), 32 for Wrussians and Pwrussians (4 x32) & Hostrians 48s (6x8). This means the British are the odd ones out with 10 companies but again I base them in 6 or 8 figure double companies in 2 ranks so are 5x6 or 5x8. You just have to fudge a British unit marching in colum of march
Skirmishers are based separately for all
Cavalry are generally 8 bases of 3 in single rank
So my advice is to base up as companies and use sabot bases for the whole battalion - easy, card base a little bigger than footprint, balsa edges to contain the bases and grit/flocked
Because you base in double rank, its easy enough to base the British or others with a figure missing from a rank of you could paint more to make up the defecit!

I'm working my way through the Imperial Guard & I'm quite pleased with the results of the new bases:
It's a bigger & more fiddly job than I'd thought but I can slowly work my way through the French, then Russians & Prussians & then Anglo-Dutch.
