I'd guess by the SYW, only a minority of the rank & fle would be Scots?

It's only a guesstimate, mate, but the regiment was only formed in 1748, so in 1756 there would still be a fair proportion of the original members. In 1762 the regiment was disbanded (and the Royal Écossais Infanterie) and the remaining troops were sent to the Irish regiments, which would indicate they were having trouble getting Scots replacements.
