Yep, some time ago. He convinced me it was ok to put archers in the same unit as spearmen like Charles Grant does, despite most rule sets disagreeing.

Early on, in the Justinian/Heraclian era it is very clear that archers were often combined in units. Also, Maurice's Strategikon mentions archers being integral in units. As for later on (Phocas/Macedonian/Komnenian dynasties, I'm fairly certain I have read that archers were often integral parts of Skutatoi units though I'd have to pull out a few books to be sure.
Ditto with many Cavalry units.
