Tim H. - To be honest, away from the May Bank Holiday weekend would actually be my preferred time to visit Ayton, but your post suggests a return to Framlingham after this year. Is that set in stone, or is there a possibility of future Autumnal events in the bucolic setting of North Yorkshire?
Nothing is set in stone, only that the May Bank Holiday or thereabouts is always the date for First Ayton, and the Autumnal event will either be there or in Fram. Unless of course somebody comes up with a suitable alternate venue.

Well done. I fear that they'll get a bad reputation if they carry on like this.

The cottage option may well be by far the cheapest accommodation in November.

Just to be clear, I understand that the May Day Bank Holiday weekend is numero uno - I wasn't looking to change that. It's just that if you're going to have a regular
second weekend in Autumn, that would be my preferred dose of Aytonage.

Can we not book snow for it this year though?
I must confess that I rather enjoyed the 2021 snow, not least as it was my first ever visit to Ayton. It made even Peeler look picturesque.
Well, almost.....
you did not get to walk home in it from Sheffield train station with a case full of lead....
Well, I did tell you to wait for better weather before nicking all the station's guttering.....

I could go for some:
FIW
Barons War
or Low "Fantasy"
If there was any interest?

Just to throw another game option in the mix for those of us whose VBCW forces have remained unused for several years.
How about playing a VBCW'ish set game using Xenos Rampant as the rules? I can't guarantee that you won't be faced with gliders full of Fallschirmjagers landing by the castle but you could discourage it by deploying a flock of bitey sheep.
If you don't want to buy another set of rules it's not a problem, most of us have played Rampant of some description, just describe what you want your unit to be capable of and I can point it up.

I used to do a Star Wars Pod racing game as the Christmas game every year when I was part of a club (20+ years ago!!) always good fun.

Looking at accommodation, it's way to late for 2023 and probably even 2024 but there is due to be a new hotel complex at West Ayton on the Station site, so that might ease things in future years?
