It's a wonderful collection, Mark, and a splendid achievement.

OK, but no trying to colour them in this time - replacement monitors don't grow on trees you know!

Just drink the turps. It will do the same thing for you.

I think you did as good a job as you could, mate. Though did you ever repaint those gunners' shoulder cords (I'd have left that as buff because the others were "only for parades").

The problem with getting good uniform info for the Reichsarmee's smaller contingents (or even some major nations' uniforms) is that some of the "authorities" grabbed whatever evidence they could find and didn't question it. So a portrait of an officer showing light straw facings and a greenish-blue coat is accepted as correct- because they don't stop to think that everything in the portrait has a yellow cast due to the varnish ageing. Then there's detailed regulations that don't agree with orders placed with suppliers. I don't know where Fred gets his info, but I wouldn't be surprised if he has contacts with the museums in Karlsruhe, Ingostadt, etc. He's a good bloke and it's a pity he left Kronoskaf, though I understand why.

Cheers fellas!

No, I didn't bother repainting those gunners' cords. I did re-do their hat-lace though (from straight to scalloped).

Yes indeed. The Alt-Wurttemberg Regiment's fusilier cap is a case in point. Knoetel interpreted it (from the Becher Manuscript) as white metal and EVERYONE else followed Knoetel's interpretation. When I look at Becher I see yellow metal, which also fits with the button colour and the known colour of the regiment's grenadier caps. I've no idea why anyone would think it was white metal, yet Knoetel's (mis-?) interpretation persists.

Yeah, Fred did find the actual, surviving flags of the Nassau-Weiburg Regiment in a museum somewhere. They're not mentioned, described or depicted in any other book or article that I've seen, so that was a hell of a good piece of detective work.

I didn't know there were 'politics' at Kronoskaf. That's a bloody shame.

Not really politics, mate, but a lack of resources to chase a pirate through the US* courts.

* Apologies- it's the UK courts. Too illiterate to spell UK correctly.... :fp:
