Just discovered
https://forwardmarchstudios.com, which thought was really quite a nice presentation of 2mm. In the sense of a total 1:1 tabletop tableau. And for $15, lifetime access to whatever is in the library is just a trivial amount to spend.
However, I'm not going to do that just yet, though it is probably inevitable. Now thinking about rules.
Die Kriegskunst. Appears impossible to find. But like the GdA/GdB vibe, so would be interested in finding a copy of this rare tome. Also open to suggestions for others. One of the first games I played as a young lad, and quite a few of them, was the original Koenigs Krieg. But I seem to remember games lasting a very, very, very long time. Other sets I might consider, in case my network of rare books dealers prove incapable of unearthing a first run, good provenance edition of the elusive DK?

Thanks for the link to Forward March. That looks interesting. Gettysburg at a 1:1 figure scale for Ayton 2022?

My thinking/planning so far for my 6mm excursion. Ground scale comes out to make 3"=50m. Which I'm thinking will look good on the table top. Figure scale is a bit flexible but well above 1:20, so I'm really going by the dimensions of the Baccus strips and figures against the unit frontage per my numbers.
40mm frontages for 1/2 SQNs of cavalry, which I think I'll do generally in 2 ranks. 3 just seems unworkable. 40mm for Russian infantry company and 60 for the Prussians. I used this for reference,
http://obscurebattles.blogspot.com/2015 ... -1758.html, which if accurate was very helpful. These will be standard units and I'll ignore any individual variation muster. The dots to the company's rear I suppose including the BN guns throws things off a bit but I'm willing to accept that for the fun of modeling them.
Input welcome, especially if I'm way off in my conversions.

Obscure battles is an excellent resource.
Your units will look good on the table.
One thought - if you are portraying about 25% of a battalion's files, do you still need 100% of the ranks?
The Russkies might look a bit like a Napoleonic attack column rather than a line formation.

That, Mr 2dave is the price you pay for ranks. My 6mm Chilean independence figs have 1/10 the number of files and three ranks so they look linear to a wargamer, but if you look at a real 1:1 Bn they are in attack columns oir closed company columns. It's all a matter of which compromises you want to make. One compensating issue is that it is impossible to base 6mm figs in close order. My troops are twice the frontage per figure that 1/300 would suggest and people comment on how closely they are based. So a 1/4 files probably means only 1/2 frontage (or conversely 2X depth) . Any which way, these units are going to look priapic.
