But they're all perfectly good character names. Maslow is probably working for Myers-Briggs who is head of a secret intelligence department. Belbin is an unscrupulous criminal anarchist mastermind, possibly Belgian.

I think many of us have been to courses, replete with butcher's paper & role playing exercises, run by "experts" who alternately state the bleeding obvious or the definitely implausible.

I do personally think Belbin, with its flaws, is a useful tool in determining if a wargames' campaign or group project will work.
A blunt tool*, admittedly.

It all depends on what you call "work". A gaming group on the verge of chaos can be very entertaining but the same mix at work result in utter paralysis. These schemes are generally based on observation of "sucessful" teams, teams that make money for the corporation. Those observations don't necessarily transfer to social groups or friendship groups. Maybe we need a mass observation study of wargamers to determine our particular archetypes.

My submission to the Economic & Social Research Council will tentatively use the categories Lawyer, Hoarder, Pedant and Jester among others.

Calling someone a blunt tool isn't passive-agressive, unless you think being blunt is a bad thing. I don't use the word blunt; I prefer straightforward as a descriptor. Anyone who disagrees can lick my hairy bollocks.
