And tasting/smelling of pomade. According to Wikipedia, the versions made during this period used bear fat as a base.

Re: Tales from Pendawar
I can attest to the benefits of bear fur as a base.

A test base of tribal horsemen for Typoo Bhyka's army. Each completed unit will have three bases, each of three figures at full strength. Figures are from the venerable Sikh Wars range from Foundry.

Well done, looking forward to seeing more of those - I especially like the one in the pink turban. Hopefully painting imaginary and presumably irregular units would give a pleasing licence to produce a riot of colour?

More colourful loveliness.

The first unit of Typoo's Tribal Horsemen are finished. More over on the blog, as you'd expect, for the elusive passing reader.... whenever he passed by that is.

Two great sets of mounted figures there, Mr P. Can I tentatively suggest a wash on the turbans as some of the colours (the pink especially) don't seem to give enough light/shade to show up the folds?
Also, Crann Tara are about to bring out some Indian workmen, mostly simple, straightforward poses but with a range of tools and weapons that would allow them to be used in a variety of settings.

Thanks Baron, on all three counts. In the flesh, so as to speak, it looks sharper and they are not yet matt varnished, which I find tends to draw out the colours. I'd seen the figures and agree they could be very handy.

Ah yes, varnish will do that. And I agree with Valleyboy that that pink is a particularly nice colour.
