Penda's Crimean War Project
Re: Penda's Crimean War Project
A start on skirmisher bases of the Rifle Brigade. More of course over on my blog.

Re: Penda's Crimean War Project
I can only assume your painting was so cruelly pigeon-holed by the chap from Hinds Figures, whose ideas of "excellent" and "good" would probably have God scratching his head in bewilderment. I wouldn't worry - they all look perfectly good to me (for whatever that's worth).
Do you know what weapon the RB was using at this time? I know the line troops had the Minie, except for the 4th Division which still had the Brown Bess (having travelled from India), but cannot find the identity of the 1850s version of the Baker Rifle.

Baron, this is the only reference I've come across to date,
"On 24 February, 1855, the 1st Battalion had received the long Enfield rifle in place of the Minie." It would indicate that the battalions of the Rifles had the Minie rifle in the Crimea.

Nice work, Penda.
If "The System" is the answer, who asked such a bloody stupid question?
