The owner who runs the Skipton Art shop is the brother of the owner of the Ilkley Art Shop who also happens to be wargamer. It a short walk for me to pick up brushes and we also have a Boyes which stocks Vallejo paint.

Cheers chaps. I paint 1/72nd Plastics (and the occasional metal miniature) with Vallejo Acrylics. I’ve just used a new set of humbrol brushes and they’re completely knacked after 16 cavalry and 24 Infantry. So the Windsor and Newton longevity looks good . . .

My advice is to buy some acrylic brushes from an art shop that are in the next price range up from your Humbrol brushes. If you have the same problem, step up to the next price range. Then, if you have the same problem it's probably the way you paint that's the issue and expensive brushes won't make any difference. I don't buy expensive brushes for just that reason. I mangle my brushes very quickly, probably because I don't clean them properly. Or possibly because I'm ham fisted.

Best of luck

Humbrol brushes are really not very good at all so anything is a step up!

I've got W&N 7s and Rosemary and cheap ones from The Works. And some old GW ones as well. I'm scare to use the Series 7 just in case (as EB suggests) they make no difference and I have to accept any crap results are my fault....

I bought mine when I was still in SA so they were effing expensive! And the first time I used them was when I was over here. :wall:

As a result, I clean them properly now and they regularly bathe overnight in the W&N brush cleaner I bought. I can’t figure out the ingredients. Almost like Turps with soap in? But it works! :?:
