Plywood. My dining room table is now a legitimate 6x4. I will christen it this weekend with the start of our Dux Brit campaign

Thats just what I need. Is plywood better than mdf and what thickness are you using.

I would have to paint mine a nice shade of green to match Humbrol Grass Green.

It’s a gamble Ilkley, I have no idea if it’s better or not, I’ll let you know! I’ve gone for 12mm plywood. I’ve got 3 pieces, each 2 foot x 4 foot. That way I can make a proper 4 foot by 4 foot using 2, or 6 foot by 4 foot using all 3.

I’m not planning to paint mine as I use cloths. I’d also be concerned about warping. I suspect you’d be better off with marine ply as it won’t warp. It’s a bit more expensive and a bit harder to come by, but will probably suit your needs more.

My dining room table is extendable to 6 foot by 3 foot. That lack of depth is always an issue for me. Not anyway more!

I’ve had it all warp.
The only safe option is to concrete over it.

3 ply with 2X1 timber frame. Paint the sheets on both sides before attaching the frame. Or just buy doors.

Quite right. Last thing you want is a plywood coffin bursting open when you and the local constabulary are having a chat about road safety out on the patio.

Our club has just started a FoGR ECW campaign. I am Sir Ralph von Wre....errr....Hopton. Already learned something interesting about him - most people familiar with the ECW know that he was a lifelong friend and military comrade of his opponent, Sir William Waller, but they were both......Puritans! I know, weird or what? Apparently, remaining loyal to his King trumped remaining loyal to his fellow-congregationalists. Both he and Waller attended the same church/meeting house as well, and - for good measure - were quite similar in appearance.

Anyway, it's August 1642 again, and Move 1 has just been submitted. There are seven of us (should have been eight but the chap playing "Prince Rupert" is seriously ill, poor bloke), plus an umpire - Fairfax is in Hull (where all traitors rightly belong), Essex is in London, Cromwell is in Suffolk, and Waller in Swindon (another place where all traitors rightly belong); the King is in Derby, Rupert (in absentia) in Oxford, Grenville is coming up from Cornwall, and I am in Farnham (about 20 minutes' actual drive away, since they built ye olde Hindheade Tunnelle).

When you say Essex is in London, have you been getting directions from EB again?

I have a load of Baccus 6mm being painted up for my on ECW project, the Hackenthorpes of Hallamshire will be joining Black Tom though, rather than that Newcastle fellow.

Nah, he'd be trying to figure out the Moscow metro if he had. :eb:
