Supposedly some used boot polish to blacken all their webbing in NWE 44-45.
Re: A second Ayton 16th-18th October 2020
I'm still in for 42mm shiny with an all new British force. Just been doung some work on the lancers today.
As much as I was hoping to join in the 30mm with some troops I doubt I've really got time to get them ready. So will maybe join Tim H if he's bringing the ACW shiny?
If it helps here's what I have:
Shiny Army - British
Command
1 Mounted Commanding Officer
1 2nd Officer plus corporal
Skirmishers
Natal Mounted Police (Dismounted) x 6
Kings Royal Rifle Regiment x 6
Infantry
92nd Gordon Highlanders x 12
93rd Sutherland Highlanders x 12
Cameronian Light Infantry x 12
Grenadier Guards x 12
59th East Lancs x 12
Artillery
tbc
Horse
21st Lancers x 6
8th Hussars x 6

I think we've probably got enough figures to give you a loan command Tim. Would be great if you could join in

Re: A second Ayton 16th-18th October 2020
Gentlemen, I note that it has not been discussed since July, so I just thought I'd ask whether the feeling is that we still go ahead with this event. I know that EB has booked his room so he is a definite for being there. I have been umming and ahhing about going myself, but I think I have talked myself into going now, provided there are no drastic changes in the current national situation. Obviously COVID will have an impact on our event in terms of socialising etc, but I feel that the hall is big enough for a measure of sensible distancing, so let's have none of that disturbing bodily contact some of you indulge in. Masks and hand sanitising supplies would be essential, if Purps is coming they would be compulsory I would have thought, I haven't been able to get hold of Peeler on the phone as yet to get his thoughts.
So, 1) Are we going ahead, (barring any changes)?
2) Who is still up for it?
3) Shall we do a two day event? (As my missus said, if you are going, what's the difference between one day or two.)
and last but not least 4) Shall we do a two day 42 mm game or the two different days?
October is not that far away now, so I thought we had better discuss this again.

Rules? You ask me what rules do I use. No, I don't do rules.

Answers in order
Yes
Me
2 days
Would prefer 42mm both days, less to finish off and it gives us time to develop the story.
I shall miss the manly hugging but the "No Tongues" rule will be a relief.

Everything Buff said except I'm possibly only going to get one day in. I have a 30 mile run the weekend before and a 55 mile ultra the following weeked after Ayton all being well and October is a strain on my leave from baby duties, I'm probably going to have to take tme off work to give the Memsahib so days off as it is.
But yes 42mm shiny please. New army here, needs some action!

As Hotel says, I'm in Ayton anyway so one or two days is fine by me.
I only have 42mm shinies but can paint some 30mm 19thC if necessary.

The Hall will be open, with sanatizer, wipey things, loo rolls, and the like. And we're still booked in. I've spoken with the Forge, they're OK with us for food and beer, the clubs for beer, still have to check with Lodge for a Sunday feed.
I've rebased all my 19thC 30mm, good to go, and have started some 42mm, so whatever floats one's boats.
Just down to numbers who want to go, so spark up if you're up for it. Licking not compulsory, distancing available, windows cleaned prior to & after the boob flash.

I was seriously considering coming along for this, but I've just been informed by the Baroness that I should keep this weekend - and the week either side of it - free for a blitzkrieg-type visit to Ireland (I'm hoping it's us doing the blitzing and she isn't implying that we will end up having to retreat to Dunkirk). Hope it goes ahead anyway and you all enjoy yourselves - lots of piccies, please.
