We'll I've well and truly buggered that up. I just called the lodge to book my room and they're full. I'll look for somewhere else in Ayton, but there's now a distinct possibility I won't be able to attend after all.

Note to self: don't wait until only 2 months beforehand to book accommodation

How do I swear with emojis?

Strange fully booked in November? Not even a room in the annex?

There's the Air B&B, which is nice. I'm afraid I'm commuting. Can't afford to stay this time sadly.

Well YOU are definitely on the Xmas card list!!! :buddies:

Actually, that place wasn't half bad and well worth the money, I thought. It's only a few minutes walk up the hill to The Lodge and about the same down the hill to the Spar. I think Jamanicus organised it and has the details. No pets, though - I think you have dogs, don't you Gary?

Despite arranging alternative accommodation (thanks to Peeler), the fates have decreed that I am not going to get to Ayton this year.
Earlier this year I had an operation to remove scar tissue following the removal of my prostate in 2021. A scan last month showed that the op was unsuccessful and the scar tissue has grown back. The date for the second, more radical, attempt to clear the problem is now 3rd November. The chances of me being mobile a week later, let alone able to travel 200 miles, play wargames for 3 days and drink my bodyweight in beer, are slim to none. So I've had to admit defeat and look forward to May instead.
I hope you all have a fantastic time.

That's shitty, Gary. I hope November goes well. But now you'll have to drink twice your body weight in May.

Bugger that's not fun in any way Gary!
Yes, health always takes priority, I remember feeling rotten for an Ayton after having a biopsy on the thursday, it takes the shine off of things :(

Here's to a swift recovery and making sure that EB drinks a bottle for you as well as himself :D
