I sometimes think that a house fire would let me do certain projects differently and the way I wish Iβd done/been able to do first time round
In a scene looking like a Tom &Jerry cartoon Mrs Short looks at her charred husband, match still in hand and says "couldnt you just have rented a skip?"

It did sound rather like he was making a plan!

I gave up trying to work it out many years ago. When your wife keeps horses, the relative cost of my hobby pales into insignificance. Even if I bought every toy soldier that even remotely took my fancy I couldn't spend what she does on the nags. I could take up power boat racing and it would still be cheaper!

But if the house burns down, she still has her nags.

Yeah, agreed. I have never had to justify or hide the packages coming into the house as she knows she canβt win that argument

Itβs worth what someone's is willing to pay for it. The cost to you to replace it would probably be much higher.
which is why, you go for replacement value (higher premiums sadly) over auction value....
Same with any collectables.

Given the attitude of many to parting with Β£5 or so for a magazine then that's probably not very much!

Generally, small units of well painted figs seem to sell readily on eBay. There are clearly some well cashed up wargamers out there. I know I sold a few complete armies 20 years ago and got a reasonable price for them. Valuing stuff i generally priced double the replacement lead cost at my usual painting standard.

Not to mention several substantial pre-cooked meals.....
