On a 400 quid one, serious ouches, no wonder you are peeved.
I would be as well.
It's a day later and I'm still fuming!
I have honestly never had this happen to me largely down to three decades of high end painting experience this coming March.
Email to vendor today.

Remember the old saying - (re-)act in haste, repent at leisure. Don't go mad, keep the tone civil, unless there is no, or an inappropriate response to your complaint.

I did so but made it clear in no uncertain terms that the varnish is not fit for purpose.

Those figures are really nice.
I mean, apart from the obvious, but other than that - sterling stuff, there.

Iβve had similar experiences when using my airbrush and havenβt gotten all the water out from the prior cleaning. I brushed some matt varnish on and it covered it fine.
Perhaps the cans were a dud batch?

Thanks guys. As i say, they've been put into a box and I'll probably return to them when I can face stripping the miniatures. There's no way I would put that sort of thing on the table top.

So is this a 'don't buy/use Colourforge Matt Varnish' story??

It is merely my honest experience.
I have refrained from telling anyone what to do or what not to do. That is not my place.

All I would say, is that Covid and the various Lockdowns have highlighted to me that we all need to be kinder to each other. I'd certainly err on the side of caution when firing offer an arsey email to Leon/Pendraken. You've no idea how the current situation may have affected him or indeed anyone (unless their pretty vocal about it...and it tends to be the ones that don't shout about it that have had it worse IMHO)
But if you do, I'd certainly be prepared for an assumption of user error, quite high in the response.
It's kinda like Purps complaining to Pfizer, after taking their magic blue pill, that the bird he tried to mount was too fat....
I dunno...I just think maybe don't over-react too....they're only toy soldiers....and isn't that our hobby...endless piles of figures waiting to be painted??

I've been in touch with the vendor today and had quite a positive response.
