Bah, try telling today's youth what it was like in our day & they'll just laugh at you. A lick of tarmac for breakfast only on a Sunday if you were lucky & just a quick lick of a mudstained cow pat on other days. Aye, times wuz 'ard.

Anyway, 1pm at the cafe or whatever they have sounds like a good plan to me.

In the good old days of the WRAF there were a couple of female only trades. Kennel maid was an official trade title.

I'd give you a lift but I'm leaving from York, could meet you here potentially? Anyone else coming?

Do they let blokes be kennel mades now, and are the duties similar?

Don't forget to bring coffee and pies to those of us working. All donations gratefully recieved.(and don't give Peeler the Pie Monitor job).

God knows who does it now, probably been contracted out, like most of the minor jobs like catering and pilot training. It will still consist of throwing food at the furry crocodiles and sweeping up shit. On the plus, one dog handler I knew reckoned that he would never have been able to get his dog to bite a kennel maid, it knew whof fed it.

A good day was had. I posted photos in the Officers Mess facebook group, don't know how to do it here. Got some WWII bargains, saw a couple of nice games, nothing huge but respectable all the same. Good to see The Luddite and others I see more often. Didn't see Tony but we loitered around and spoke to some odd bloke we thought was him.

Got most of the things on the shopping list, didn't get any Under Fire Miniatures 20mm in the end, or any new periods. Will save those for Vappa in Feb.

A long day made pleasant by the opportunity to laugh with old friends. I actually enjoyed myself.

As did I, good to natter. Good enough show, some decent games on & good stalls too, though I didn't actually buy anything but got some ideas for future games.

I lie, I did buy tea, a pulled pork sandwich, a cheeseburger, a bowl of mushroom soup & a bun.
