It was bats wot started it. Chinese Horseshoe bats carry a disease that's pretty much one mutation away from Covid 19. Current thinking is that bats used pangolins, county lines style, to pass it on.

Bats, I can understand, they're soft and don't explode if you tape them up forst, but pangolins are scaly.
