Please! This is Great Britain...those are Nissen Huts...original and best...and very nicely built by the Caprine fellow.

Traditionally they would have used creosote on the wooden bits.
If anyone wants to build another type of building that was extensively used at permanent stations in the expansion before WW2 these are typical examples. These are from RAF Cosford but were very common everywhere. This colour scheme is very post 1975 as the standard practice during my time there was to paint them with creosote every year before the annual formal inspection. The hospital at Cosford was made of the same buildings connected by external coridors and got the same treatment. Not surprisingly it was on the priority list for 3 fire brigades.

Some were still in use up till the late 90's but I expect they have all gone now

Living on what had been Wolverhampton Airfield there were dozens of these still up the way from us in 1980 when we moved in. They were painted cream and green I recall.

Nissen is right up there with Macadam in my description of roads and buildings.
