Gripping stuff, young obertrainenmarshallingyardgefreiter; shame the game couldn't be finished.

One of the reasons a friend and I make the hour-and-a-quarter drive to Southampton on Saturdays is because our club (a) plays on Saturdays, and (b) has an 8-hour window for the first Saturday each month, and a 5-hour window for the third Saturday (and fifth if there is one, although this can also be extended to an all-dayer if enough people want it). None of this "get yer kit out/off, have a game (sort of), and pack it all away again in just three hours" mullarkey.

Yes indeed! We can book the Scout Hut for full weekdays, but weekends are normally pre-booked by the Scouts. That said, most of us work shifts or are self-employed, so we do book the odd full weekday or two-day slog for the big games. The Carmarthen club is also starting to do occasional full days from Christmas onward.

The Chrimbo Game this year was a 10mm ACW battle fought with Fire & Fury 2nd Edition: the right flank of Bloody Antietam:

Very splendid indeed.

I'm a big fan of BF&F, the only down side are the stats cards which follow the units around (or not, seeing as I keep leaving them behind and mixing them up - really irritates me mates). I'm wondering if the stats could be a permanent fixture of a brigadier stand?I'm going to try that idea for size.

Cheers EB!

Yes, the labels in this instance look even bigger than normal, because of the small figure scale. I actually use pale green card, but I can't find a darker shade any more. The lads at Fire & Fury I know tend to print them with black as the background colour and white as the 'ink' colour, which tends to hide them better. However, with lots of new players, I thought it was better to leave them large and more visible for people to read off. In future I'll probably make them a lot smaller and darker.

Re leaving them behind - I tend to sellotape them to one stand in each unit.

I put my 6mm figs on strips of magnet and I leave a 15X20mm space, I have always figured on putting a magnetic tile with stats on it.

When we did our little game last year I did labels like this

The bulk of the label is on the bottom of the base but the edge folds up along the rear of the base...

Not hugely clear for aging eyes but less visible on the table...

Selloptape! Good idea, as is darker card.

I'm painting some 10mm ACW at the moment, which are going on 15mm sized bases.
