I've had in mind to do Campaldino 1289 ever since I bought the Scramasax book on the battle on a visit to Florence back in 2002. Partly because the book is magnificently illustrated (and only available in Italian ) and partly because its the battle where you're allowed to field Dante Alighieri, author of the Divine Comedy, as one of the participant.

Collected a big range of Foundry/Essex/1st Corps figures, undercoated the infantry and tried painting a few. Then put them in a big box until last year when I started undercoating the cavalry:


So that's my plan for the remainder of this year - get this project finished or at least usable. Clear the workbench!

That looks an excellent plan, LT! Look forward to seeing it completed.

My super tidy workbench is seeing work on more Fallsschirmjager. I need a couple more MG teams as it appears the local rozzers may be marching down some country lanes soon and need to be greeted appropriately....

And obviously I'm also working on some heavy gun emplacements for my 6mm SF project....

And I might have ordered some Sengalese for CoC.... As you do...

But other than that I'm focused!!! Focused I say!!!

Many, many, lots!

It’s a bit terrifying, that’s just the infantry and there’s a lot of horseys to come. But I’m opting for a fast painting approach - 15-20 minutes a figure so that’s ....er...um....long time.

Another 60 trees on the go here - smaller ones this time, more suited to 10mm and 15mm. It's taken me 30-odd years, but I finally have decent scenery...
