Incidentally Matt Slade has turned up trumps and my Lardies Infamy, special edition Friends of Kenneth polo has shown up. Bloody nice it is too, in a fetching shade of navy blue. That was very quick.

There plenty of other Optio(n)s available, of course, the tax gatherers are always something like Calculus, and the Purpuses are so common a name that the family nickname is Multi.

There is a genuine person called Furius Scribonianus, Governor of Dalmatia, who led a rising against Claudius in 42AD. He’s going in my forces as a scribe (I may have to invent a rule for him).
