Slightly confused by references to Peter Hall. I’ve got the Robert Hall book on flags and uniforms of French infantry from the P&S - so beautiful that I bought quite a few GMB flags on the strength of it and a lot of 28mm WoSS. Some of which are being painted now.
20mm is for WW2 and perverts.
Yes, Robert Hall. Who said Peter?
What's your point about 20mm?

Thank you for the offer, but I have a couple of Grant books, bought from Caliver. Not sure if they are WSS or Marlburian though... I'll have to look.
Same thing....

I was quite keen on this period/figure size a few years back but lost interest when I couldn't find a suitable 'bonnetted' and uniformed (not plaids)figure for Regular Scots.
Is there anything like that out there now?

Nope they're wearing the small plaid
I could do head swaps on standard English foot but life is generally too short
I need to get into this 3d sculpting malarkey but the last program I tried scambled my PC.

Hmmmm as far as I am aware in the WSS, Scottish regiments wore the tricorne and mitre, same as the English (even if until 1707 they were seperate armies technically).
As far as I am aware the first Highland regiment is the 43rd (later 42nd Black watch) raised in 1715 after the '15 rising.

Sorry, I misunderstood. Are you after William III's (William I's?) Scottish army? Bonnets rather than floppy hats? Cool. Wouldn't a blob of Green Stuff be easier than a whole head swap?
Have you got a piccie of said Scot? You've got me wondering about 1688 now! I've already done a few units with floppy hats and pikes. Where's my Newline hotline.............................. git.

You are talking about Scots Regts in the service of the English Army, which is the case. Those also adopted yellow facings (James VII livery colour) rather than the white lining and facings worn by the majority of the Regts in Scottish Service. I am looking at the Scottish Army during the period not those that served under the English on the continent.
Up until the act of Union in 1707 a proportion (at least two
) of the Scottish Regular Regts and probably the majority of the militia Regts still wore the Bonnet. So i'd want to do at least one of each whilst any others could have the 'standard' floppy hat/informal tricorne. The Scots also retained the fur cap for Grenadiers after the English had moved onto the cloth cap I think.
After 1707 the Scottish army was, of course, absorbed into the English (maybe with the exception of some militias) and mostly took on their uniform regulations.
