The Walrus was rugged, the only thing as bad as landing on a carrier would be putting float planes down. What does HAR mean when put after the name of a chopper?

The bristol hercules was a decent radial, as was the centaurus...

The Hercules was never going to pull the Warwick through the air and the Centaurus was too late.

So was the warwick, first prototype in mid 39, meant a service date of mid 40 at the earliest, by the time it did arrive the big 4 engines had arrived.

Would heve been interesting if Wallis's big bomber had been built though.

It was built. Seems to have been used mainly for maritime patrol. It would have been good in 41, but I am surprised no one tried a four engined version. After all, going from two to four worked at Avro.

Did they modify the Whitley at any point, as I recall seeing photos of guys "de-planing" via a hole in the floor? The slipstream could catch you awkwardly and you could knock yourself out by hitting your chin on the rim of the exit. It was known as "ringing the bell" I believe.

Coffin exit, because of the shape of the hole.

I love the Walrus, such an anachronistic design. Just call them Shagbats...

Look at the bloody thing. Compare it with the floatplanes everyone else had.
