On the subject of not painting part of a unit. There was a brilliant painter who still works for a big wargames company who once only painted just the front of a unit of Ghulams for display. I'll keep stum about who was the guilty party :)

I've had great fun painting up this unit of combined arms Byzantine Skutatoi. I was initially slightly worried about how they would base up but using the 40mm wide by 50mm depth has payed off I think. There's enough space on the bases for the miniatures to work together as a unit maintaining the sculptors vision of the Shieldwall working as one organism.

Great looking unit, but.....have they all been watching "Braveheart"?

Great stuff, so pretty it would be a shame to run them down with Persian Diqhan. (Not really ;-) )
