Will do. I need to clear Hammerhead/Tunbridge/Salute before any serious work but will try experimenting with 15mm painting in January. I haven’t really done any 15mm since the Beer River Valley campaign

Good grief! That's thirty three or thirty four years ago. I found the map for that the other day. Took me back to when I was young and skinny.

I don't intend to paint this stuff to a high standard.......I just want to bash out a load of three figure bases (maybe four figure?) so I can play games.

I wonder if Paul W still wargames. He was then and remains the only man I know who undercoats his figures after he's painted them (I actually still feel guilty for ribbing him about his drybrushing......so out of order).

I doubt I’m aiming for a high standard, ideally basic and a dirty wash. Been looking at Aly Morrison’s approach:
https://alystoysoldiers.blogspot.co.uk/ ... rench.html
which looks pretty good and wondering if it work in 15s.

Haven’t seen or heard Paul W for about 30 years, I did wonder if he was ever on the forums or at shows but was never aware of him being so and didn’t come across his name at work. There is of course that photo but it shall forever remain locked in the vault.

Around the end of the 90's Paul's picture appeared in an official publication, probably Portcullis, so I contacted him by e-mail (it was probably one of the very first e-mails I ever sent). I learnt that he was working at the Shoebury site and that he was divorced, although don't quote me on that. I could see from his photo that his hair, while still unnaturally thick, had turned completely silver - which was very distinguished but he could only have been about 40. Never another word though.....but I had been very rude about his Confederates.

Photo? What photo? Now I'm worried! Not the football tournament photo? That must never been taken from our vaults.

Mr Morrison is a talented chap who makes the difficult look easy. I shall undercoat in very dark brown and then apply thick blobs of paint until I think I can get away with the result. I'll put a bit of effort into the bases though.

I assume this means you’ll be painting the eyelashes on them as usual :D

Don’t worry, I retain a copy only for the historical record and occasional blackmail.
