I've used grey primers in the past a few times on Fantasy miniatures where I was putting in a hell of a lot of layers but I always seem to revert back to black as it suits my method of leaving some of the black l showing through when I put down my layers(Crappy pictures below of layering over grey primer- apologies it's all I have left!)
