I've always thought myself that armour items continued in use far beyond the so called period they are assigned to in pre industrial societies. Your point about archers and armour strikes me is a little odd too, surely there might be a case for a warrior having both sword/axe and bow? Anyway, I enjoyed reading your reply. Yes I do give a certain level of certainty as I have an Academic background in this including one dissertation written exclusively on Warfare in the Viking Period and five years of study prior to starting my Higher Degree
I would be delighted to talk to Footsore about it but I suspect their perspective is "what sells" rather than what is 100% accurate.
I have said it before (too much really) and will say it again: This is my personal taste, that I prefer figures as accurate as possible to this period, and that I do not deny how nice these new ones are but they are much nicer than they are accurate.
I think it's fair to say that I stopped worrying about 100% accuracy in toy soldiers a long time ago. As an academic you should realise that asking any two experts only give us three opinions, opinions not facts. Thankfully there is lots of room in our wonderful hobby for all viewpoints. I'm reasonably sure by the way that your assessment of Footsore is fairly accurate! I'm also sure that the range will go on to sell well!

haha that might apply to peripheral things but there are such things as facts and I think it's generally accepted that Vikings didn't have time machines amongst other things
Having had my other Footsore Vikings (along wit Artizan and Crusader)out on the gaming table last weekend I am so looking forward to the arrival of these

I think most opinion might support you there.
As I said though, opinions not facts. Neither you, other experts in the field nor I were there so it's only opinion resting on interpretation in the end. I'll leave you happily with your 100% accurate figures, not that they will ever exist mind, for reasons I've already given you.
