Or else just alert people to the fact that cash is a necessary requirement of attendance, for future years?

Solving the wrong problem there.
Everybody is already alert to the necessity of cash.
Everybody who’s been before is alert to the presence of a cashpoint on-site.
That alertness will not put one single pound in your pocket when said cashpoint turns out to be cattled.

Sorry, didn't make that clear - I was talking about alerting people to precisely that problem, and getting them to bring their cash in with them and NOT rely on the cashpoint.

I'd put a note out on the social media to let folks know that the cashpoint wasn't there again this year, but obviously that doesn't catch everyone. I think most of our traders bring a card machine these days so it's not a massive issue, but I always try and fix any little niggles that we come across.
