We started the session with Derrick hanging on the edge of a sunken grave with his legs dangling in a cave below. Randall took the opportunity to stuff every pocket with dynamite before returning to help. Christine selected a particularly vicious pickaxe.
The cave had a crawl-way tunnel leading from it and so the whole party got down on their hands and knees with Karina showing them the way. Nothing changed there then.
After some time crawling through the tunnel it emerged into a wide cave like area with a group of bestial humanoid creatures gnawing on the remains of dead bodies. Karina went forward to observe but the sight of this horror caused Karina's flimsy sanity to snap and she didn’t return. After some time of entertaining whisper-passing, Randall entered the chamber to find Karina sat round with the Ghouls gnawing on a particularly tasty piece of thigh, telling them about how wonderful New York is. The sight of Randall brought her back to her senses and the rest of the party came through to talk to Spleen , a particularly chatty Ghoul with a French accent. He told them about the recent intrusion of the Dreamlands and the emergence into Reality of the Dhole (world devouring monstrous worm).
The party had a plan to get the ghouls to help them kill the Dhole. Spleen told them to fuck off. So plan B was formed. Grab the nuclear bomb and drop it on the Dhole. What could go wrong ?
Following the tunnels up to the surface the heroes emerged at a cliff edge. Half way up was a strange hexagonal tunnel, but nesting on the cliffs were the flocks of the strange bat winged demon creatures that attacked the plane in Episode 2. Randall took some crack shots and scattered the creatures buying time for the party to scale the cliffs and enter the corridor. All they had to do was cover him while he climbed up - so naturally they all went inside the tunnel instead. Climbing the cliff he was (of course) targeted by an annoyed demon creature. Fortunately Derrick rushed back to the scene and randomly sprayed the area with his SMG. Much to everyone's amazement he hit with a shot and the creature was scared off. Randall survived…..
Inside were some strange rooms. One containing a throbbing pyramid with large hexagon frames rotating around it. A second with panels and dials and levers. Dr Singh nearly wet himself with excitement. Pressing some buttons caused some panels to light up showing what seemed to be maps of Earth in prehistoric times with certain locations lit up. Pressing another button Dr Singh cause the hexagon frames to move towards each other , sparks flying until they met. Fine tuning the equipment and vision came into being of a desolate world, pocked marked with craters and holes. As Dr Singh leaned in for a closer look, a monstrous, building-sized black worm reared up on the other side of the portal and seemed to spit out a vast globule of viscous secretion straight towards the portal - and him.
At which point a voice behind Hilaire said "for God's sake don’t break the machine". Turning round Hilaire saw it was - the previously missing- Dr Shapiro
Tune in next week…..

Four volunteers to each take Shapiro’s ankle or wrist, and One, Two, THREE through the stargate.
Let’s see you act all mysterious while wrestling that Shai Hulud.

Well, his explanation is either going to be, A: good enough to save him from a one-way trip to the prehistoric arctic shelf, or B: not.
Remember, we let go ON three, not AFTER three.
