Not actually a factor, they had the tanks, just no way to get them to the front fast enough, because of the air interdiction, and by mid july a shortage of trained crew replacements for the tanks.

Part of the issue was the panthers were too big to travel by rail, so they had to take the tracks off, put smaller ones on for transport and then the originals back on. It was all just too complex. Apparently quite a lot of German tanks were just abandoned in Normandy due to lack of sore parts.

They were lacking in just about everything. The Atlantic Seawall has MG’s that were firing wooden bullets

Same with tigers, outside wheels had to come off. And with the allies hitting the railways the fact they did not like road travel of distance without work and repair just compounded the issue.
Abandoned kit is always an issue when retreat becomes run.

The Panther didn't need to be worked on to travel by rail. The Tigers did.

Surely, a lack of sore parts is a bonus?

How could a military machine so efficient that it could manage to design seasonal variations of different cammo schemes fail to get such simple stuff right? Possibly because the allies were bombing the shit out of their logistics train and no-one had the balls to tell the High Command to stick to the simple stuff.
I blame Hugo Boss.
Also, slave labour isn’t the most efficient production system. As Amazon have been discovering.

Apparently that’s fake news. Hugo Boss’ family had nothing to do with the design of the German uniforms, their family were however one of the many factories that did make the uniforms though.
