It is true the the liberation of the Israelites from Egypt, where they wondered in the desert for 40 years, was loosely based on EB running down to Asda for his mam when he was a young lad.

I often wondered, even herding all those goats and snotty nosed kids, and harvesting the Mana, where the hell did they go? You could walk to Vladivostok and back in 40 years.

Just got hold of Men of Bronze, the new set from Osprey. They are big skirmish, about the same size as Lion Rampant but no fixed unit sizes, basing agnostic. Might be worth a go instead of Mortal Gods which was a bit disappointing, good core rules but dismal components (bent ragged cards, flimsy booklets, miscast dice etc.).
