Yeah, but the drums and equipment are all 17.7mm, looks wrong against 17.3mm troops. Might get away with it in the army, but not in the same units. And not in public, obs.

Oh what a shame, the only Bavarian kettledrummers I know of are 17.7mm

And they don't fit on a normal 37.6mm x 12.3mm base. Ask EB if you don't believe me....

Ah that's easy, you just put a small filet on each of the other bases, so your 17.3mm look like 17.7mm. QED.

Painting the last unit of Early Saxons I require for larger games. Once done, do I (a) push on with the Early Saxons and Arthurians and finish all I have (maybe another 50 figures) or carry on with the Pointy Sticks project? Or go in a completely different direction and paint some WW2?

Early Saxons and Arthurians are Pointy sticks so you can fulfil both requirements.

I've been pleasantly surprised at the progress I've made on two 'Gentlemans War' sized units of 28mm Colonials by just doing 30 minutes a day over the last five days and using mostly contrast paints. Another two or three days and i'll be finished (bar varnishing nice and shiny). This equates to around ten minutes a figure which is just plain daft.

While I eagerly await my latest Baccus WWII shipment, I'm enjoying my 6mm Saxons from the same. Thinking the GNW is really going to be a period with so much potential for the tabletop.

Especially as quite a lot of GNW troops can also be used in the WSS and Austro-Turkish wars as well.
