I'd heard it was going to be "En Garde!"
All armies of ten figures or less.

Rules: Unless anybody has any glaring objections, I am going to propose the use of "The Men Who Would Be Kings", if only because it's so much damn fun to keep writing that out in full. The rules look pretty playable for a largish group, and don't require the creation of huge armies (a big plus) and are written by somebody who will not be attending, thus saving any of us from constant barracking etc. I see no reason why people cannot provide more than one force if they want to, but the forces should be compiled using the stats within the rules. Which are as follows:-

Regular Infantry at 6 pts. Consisting of 12 figures including a leader.

Mounted Infantry at 4 pts. Consisting of 8 figures, including a leader (NB these are not "cavalry" and will fight dismounted.)

Regular Cavalry at 6 pts. Consisting of 8 figures including a leader.

Irregular Infantry at 4pts. Consisting of 12 figures including a leader.

Irregular Cavalry at 4pts. Consisting of 8 figures including a leader.

Tribal Infantry at3 pts. Consisting of 16 figures including a leader.

Tribal Cavalry at 3 pts. Consisting of 10 figures including a leader.

One gun/crewed weapon at 6 pts (well drilled) and 4 pts (poorly drilled). Consisting of one gun/machine gun and up to 4 crew plus leader.

Players could also field a force commander at no additional cost. This would as act as a representation of you. So, amusing character names will be welcome.

The points allowance will be raised to 30 points and no more. I think this will allow a fairly flexible field force without too much expense, or hopefully built using existing troops. Basing I leave to you. Multiple based figures don't seem to be a problem, although the rules are aimed at individually based figures. But I see no need for the nightmare of re-basing.
Rules? You ask me what rules do I use. No, I don't do rules.

Sounds good Tim, and will allow all sorts of actions, from narrative skirmishes in tricky terrain, to small battles with several forces on each side. Oh, and endless natives to see off!

My Zulus are massed based as I preferred the effect I could achieve with mass basing. I’ll just use casualty counters.

Tim.

How important is it to stick to the figures per unit you've given? I'm going to have multi based units of tribal and irregular types but I hadn't planned on such numbers. Can I, for instance, have a twelve figure tribal infantry unit but count 'hits' on it up to 16?

No. Of course not. What are you thinking?
Are you on meth? Is this a cry for help?
