Talvisota (The Winter War) is a good one on an unusual subject...
Wonderful scene about how to completely knacker a T26 using little else other than a sturdy tree trunk...
Oh, and lots of Russians.
You think you can imagine a lot of Russians?
More than that.
Probably on streaming somewhere with an odd alternative English title... I keep looking out for Tali Ihantala but haven't found it yet... that includes the actual tanks sued in the battle - the Finns kept using their StuGs until the 1970s.

Do we qualify War as allowing fantasy, etc?
I think some of the best battle scenes have been in LOtR (controversial) and several samurai and Asian films.
Anyone remember that medieval film where he fights in armour and the camera keeps popping inside the visor?
I’m a big fan of those Gritty Vietnam films that all seemed to splurge out. Bit miserable though aren’t they?

Those gritty Vietnam wars are miserable for a reason, god preserve us for a film about Northern Ireland.
I'm keeping a few back because I always remember something good at the last minute.
