Ah... and so Fred's secret alter-ego is busted, as we have the painting chart. I am sure they will be brigaded with mine in Blue with Light Purple facings. Matt Slade's ones are lovely.

Matts are a lesson in.... do not look at other painters work!

I love looking at other people's work and figuring out what is good and different from the way I do things. It's a chance to learn and improve. My own view is that there's a lot of things that can be learned and developed in the way of technique, and that good light, practice, and patience are all you need to get good results. Great results need skill sadly!

I found that I could get to a very respectable painting speed by planning it right. Having the right colours to hand, having worked out a logical painting sequence, and doing 'right sized' batches. The things that slow it down are figuring out you need to go back and patch it up, or using the same colour three times because your sequence is wrong, or deciding a different highlight colour.
