Just bought a copy of "Die Bayerische Armee 1806-1813" fromm Zinnfiguren in Berlin. Eye-watering postage, but the booket itself looks top-notch.

I bought a bundle of stuff for the GF9/Battlefront Tanks game from Dan Mersey via Ebay. Two starter sets minus the tanks themselves. No problem as I have plenty of Shermans & Panthers. Today I popped into Chester Models and picked up some Russian stuff.
GF9's forum has barred any discussion about homebrew stats for tanks other than the official releases which isn't unreasonable and I'm sure that someone will stat up a KV2 somewhere.

Not so much buying anything today, more like submitting to a ransom demand. My CMON Shael Han Avatars came through from the US. Those damned Revenue Men worked out the exchange rate value as £15 & 4.5p. This entitled them to bill me for £3.09. As they get Royal Mail to do the work I also had to pay them £8.

Next time I'll get stuff addressed to Mr HMRC Pensioner and see if that gets through alright.

Just put one of the elephant avatars together, nice figure but I may have to trim the locating stud for the left arm. Pictured with a 28mm Bobby Chipperfield for scale

Arrived today in a tantalisingly large package secured with those black loops we used to use to get into cars (back in the days of the pop-up door lock knobs in the window cavity). Turned out, the size of the package was entirely down to the massive Zinnfiguren catalogue that seems to accompany everything you buy from them. The book itself - about the size of an Osprey, but slightly thicker - was contained in a paper bag. Even that had a couple of catalogues in it. On the plus side, they didn't charge me the full minimum order value of 25.00 Euros - the book was only 24.95. And I only ordered it on Thursday. So on balance, a worthwhile buy (even if it is all in German - I've started translating it already!).

I've just ordered 'The Waist-High Cornfield: The Battle of Rots' (46 RM Commando and Fort Garry Horse versus 12th SS Panzer Division in Normandy) by Keith Taylor. Keith wrote to me some years ago to say that his father had fought at Rots with 46 RM Cdo, that he'd read my scenario on the battle and was inspired to do further research using my article as a starting-point (the fool...).

Some time later he published a booklet and put me in touch with the mayor of Rots and town council, who were very kind enough to host my cadet tour-group for a memorable visit to their village. That booklet has now expanded into a privately-published book and I'm hearing good things, so I'm really looking forward to receiving delivery. I'm taking the cadets back to Rots in July, so this will enhance the trip:

Placing orders for wargames stuff over breakfast is a new record for me.
