Yes, the Von Swinburne's of Fucking - an old Austrian family of impeccable breeding from an unfortunately-named village near the Bavarian border. Related to the Von O'Reilly family of Munster.

Serious Mode: Yes, the 56th got the nickname due to their facing colour, which was the favourite colour of Madame de Pompadour and named in her honour. After amalgamation with the 44th following the Childers Reforms, the 2nd Battalion of the Essex Regt continued to have the nickname 'Pompadours' until further amalgamation to become the Anglian Regt in the 1950s. You'll probably find that a platoon of the current Royal Anglians still carries the name.

Do you think I should follow the link in the e mail from Wordpress as suggested - it said "You might want to go see what they're up to! Perhaps you will like their blog as much as they liked yours!"

There's also a "Great posts from Hello487" link suggested - but I don't think I'll bother as its in Russian

Yeah, I just got a dodgy Russian follower as well. First time that's happened. It's normally just spam (I gladly paid for the spam filter...). You can block them from following you: https://en.support.wordpress.com/follow ... a-follower
