I confess that I love Lancashire Games figures. It's the quirkiness.

But, I've decided against buying any more because they are so flimsy at the ankle and bayonet. Such a shame.

Unfortunately I foolishly threw out all my back-issues of WI years ago, including all the issues with photos of my stuff!

Yeah, the Mk 1 Lancashires were very nicely modelled for their day, if rather flat and painfully thin - especially around the ankles. The Mk 2 figures were bizarrely porked out, though still had very weak ankles... Lots of these are in 'charging' pose, all standing on one leg and therefore multiplying the problem. The cavalry were absolutely horrible. They did however, do my absolute favourite 15mm model of Fred the Big (sitting on a tree-stump).

I have left over Australia Post mailing cylinder offcuts from the castle build that will work well for Gallic roundhouses. (Rondavel?) But I really should paint some figures...

So in your case, the answer to the question "What's on your workbench?" is "A lot of wrapping paper and string, and a load of stamps!"

All this rummaging about in my old SYW collection has got me inspired! My mojo is seriously struggling on the Napoleonic front at present and I was struggling with all the bright colours, facings, buttons, lace and shakos, so it's time for a change of scenery... Bright colours, facings, buttons, lace and tricorns...

I've got a stack of unpainted Old Glory 15s SYW that have lain unpainted since the 1990s - mostly Swedes, Reichsarmee and other Austrian-allied contingents. So the Wurzburg 'Red' Regiment is now under the brush and soon to be followed by the Wurttemberg and Bavarian Auxiliary Corps...

We did have a 1:1 Macedonian phalanx in one issue... It was definitely sometime in the mid-to-late 90s, though Duncan did sometimes sit on photos for a while before using them later in the quieter months. If you come across them, I'd be very grateful if you could scan the photos for me... And our samurai game if you find that as well (featuring BIG castles...).

Here are the Austrian infantry mostly reflagged. I've run out of flags for now, but more are winging their way to me in the post!
