Those stoppers have a new lease of life round here since the real ale pubs have opened to sell takeaway beer. I take down my (cleaned out) 5 litre kegs, fill them with ale and use those stoppers in the top to extend the shelf life.Shahbahraz wrote: ↑Sun May 10, 2020 10:41 am It's something like the folk marketing those stoppers for bottles of wine you want to keep after drinking some. Not much of a market for those round here.

Me neither, but my wife's brother says it's very much an acquired taste - as in one you acquire when you just want to get slaughtered asap and don't care what your head and guts feel like tomorrow.Shahbahraz wrote: ↑Sun May 10, 2020 11:13 am I can put hand on heart and state with utter truth that I have never tasted buckfast. It seems to be quite a specialised tipple.

Last Christmas I publicly renounced my Scottish upbringing until my sister pointed out that I had Buckfast and Tennents Super in the cabinet and we were eating deep fried pizza.

Yup, that's why supermarkets sell those really small pizzas, the ones about 6"-7" diameter. Just dip them in batter and hoy them into the deep frier.
