I received a couple of nice scenery pieces from Alternative Armies - the beer wagon will become a Sharp Practice deployment point.

Most of them are unfortunately unsuitable for the rules unless I move into Ayton hall and use all their tables. And anything below 6mm is just daft - I mean how do you differentiate armies? These are my Gauls/Romans/ECW/Napoleonic/Early War German Panzer tanks.

This is not a new concept, Irregular can do that in any scale.

To be fair beyond 6ft anything smaller than 28mm is difficult to tell apart.

That's a bit unfair, the 3mm Pico-armour stuff I have seen is quite distinguishable. The 2mm stuff is trickier, but there are some pretty good examples of painted stuff that you can at least readily distinguish nationality by colour.

A toothpick laid on its side and painted different colours also makes an army distinguishable by their colours

If those are 3mm, the only things I could recognize were the elephants and the pikes. And those were close up pictures. From 3 foot those pikes could be anything from Macedonian to ECW and anything inbetween. The rest of the foot could be any kind of foot from half a table away

Counters would be cheaper and you could put more detail on them.

Now try the same exercise with 6, 10, 15 etc

In all seriousness, I can see the appeal of the truly tiny scales, mass effect and portability for example, and things like 3mm armour are surprisingly easy to identify, (bonus that no rivet counter will be giving you a hard time about using m4a3 Shermans instead of m4a2), but I like the aesthetics of figure gaming, so 6mm is as small as I use.
