The LBM banners are transfers, you peel the plastic face off, stick onto white paper and soak off like the shield transfers. They stumped me too when I did my first ones. I dip my little finger in water and smear over the transfer so paper backing doesn't soak. Hope this helps if I've understood your post correctly.

Hi. Yes, I've been using them for a while. But these ones came from an older set, and the plastic coating doesn't seem to peel. Its very odd and quite unlike all the other LBMS stuff I have used.

My sale purchase from North Star came today, which took the edge off a shitty Monday.
Two rifle squads with a HMG and command of greatcoated Gerries by Crusader. Very lovely they are too! I thought the greatcoated Russians I recently got were quite poor by Crusader standards, badly cast with big mould lines that I can't file off without changing the shape of the helmets. These have no such issues and are lovely casts. Should have bought more but money was tight after Christmas.

OK, figured out that over time, the plastic coating had essentially welded itself to the decals, so it is virtually impossible to remove. Ah well. One sheet will have to be scrapped. Them' the breaks.

Good to hear - I ordered a 1940 French platoon in the discount sale and am eagerly awaiting them for Frogruary.

I presume that's the Crusader EW French? Chunky, but I reckon they paint up well. I supplemented mine with some Warlord minis as well, they are less chunky but it's not too noticeable once painted up.

Yes. I also splashed out on a four-can deal of rattle sprays from PSC, including British khaki for the French uniforms (sacrilege, I know - I believe that the French actually called it a different colour to avoid using the word "khaki"!). There'll be a British (51st Highland Division) platoon for the same period at some future date, so it won't go waste.
Just out of interest, Doug, what did you use to paint your French infantry? Like you, I've used Warlord for the specialists you can't get from Crusader, such as sniper, A/T rifle, etc etc.

Hi mate, I used a mix of green and tan, but it actually came out very close to Vallejo Brown Violet, or that horrible Airfix soft plastic mucky green.
You can see the results here:

I then slapped on a load of the Coat d Arms Bown super shader. Not dissimilar to the Army Painter stuff. And exaggerated the helmet colour difference for visual effect. I look at these now, and with the Crusader 'chins' I reckon a blue gray stubble wash would really help.
