Pleasant enough show, received a couple of boxes of figures from LT for Mr Vintage, had a fat boys breakfast with extra breakfast on the way there & pie & peas before we left, but apart from that didn't buy anything. Some good looking games on. I was impressed that I got there on the right day, unlike TimW this time. He had a dose of the sniffles, poor chap.

Nothing wrong with my sniffles, had a bad chest infection all week. Seemed to start after, when was it... Oh yes, waiting in the frost for an hour and a half outside your house last week.
I might have dragged myself over but I've been paying out vast sums on Mrs W's and Murhers gifts this week. I don't really need anything on the leadpile just yet anyway. There was only Under Fire Miniatures I was interested in and can buy online anytime anyway.
Saving my pennies for Star Wars Legion when it finally comes out and a splurge on Foundry SYW cavalry that I'll pick up at vappa.
What did Richie buy?

The best thing about Roman buildings too, is that they have the potential for use over thousands of years of historical games on many continents.
I can see Grizz bashing out a "Gangs of Melbourne" game, complete with forum, coliseum, aqueduct, and circus maximus, as we speak......
Melbourne Forum
Melbourne Coliseum, where they throw the Lions to the Christians on Boxing Day.
Melbourne aqueduct, complete with venomous Australian.
Maddus Maximus

Very good - especially the coliseum one (I suspect the series might be over by then, as a contest at least).

'Kin' 'eck. Is that the entire population of Ozz in the Coliseum? It's huge.
Nice shot of the platypus - yet another Ozzy animal that can ruin your day.
Is that really him? Big fan.

The money this country spends on bread and circuses is depressing. I want wargaming to become an Olympic sport.

great idea. I vote for Newbury Fast Play rules as the set most likely to engage an international viewing public

Don't put the cart before the horse. We start with an international wargaming committee. We need to engage consultants to see that we are no more overpaid than the other committees. We need to establish a research arm who will carry out trips to old battlefields in a convoy of rented 4WDs, with a professional photographer in tow and appropriate 5 star accommodation nearby with gastronomic and other cultural tours of the region.
Then there is the library. And the painting budget. We would have to visit Sri Lanka and Vietnam to look at who becomes the official painter, with side trips to cover Wellington's campaigns in India; Dien Bien Phu, Hue, Long Tan, and Saigon, I mean HCM City.
And did I mention conferences to be held on every continent to discuss these things?
The Olympics is about more than playing games me lad.

There will need to be a whole raft of rules covering wangling the angle, dodgy dice and flexible rulers. The out of competition testing will have to cover lots of categories from excessive consumption of pies to personnel hygiene.
And the final insult would be that TMP Bob would fix the election to run the Olympic Wargame Committee using the same rules as he runs TMP.

No, that is the one thing that is safe, the Olympic committee after the doping issues won't have a paedo apologist on board. Not unless he has Russian money or trump.
