My figures are 25/28mm
Infantry 4 figures on 40mm x 40mm base.
light infantry 2 figures on 40mm x 40mm base.
Cavalry 2 figures on 50mm x 50mm base.
Artillery 1 gun 3/4 crew on 80mm x 50mm base.
Battalion gun 1 gun on 40mm x 40mm base.

Infantry regiments are between 24 and 30 figures strong, Cavalry regiments are 16 figures strong, an artillery battery has 2 cannons.

No particular rule set just based on how many figures fit into a really useful box.

Willz.

I've currently no 18th Cen having sold my Spencers to Peeler and my posh Foundry/Crusader to Jamie. But I have been considering some FIW types and possibly throwing my lot in for 2020 and joining the main game. Narrowly avoided buying some Indians at Partizian the other day. I keep looking at Hinchliffe and Minifigs as Ilkley Mark enthused me with his Napoleonics at Ayton to do some old skool stuff.

I would probably base as Willie has done, or 60x40mm with 6 figures to a stand for 24 man units. FIW not having too many men, I wouldn't want big battalions. Nor could I afford them if buying Minifigs.

I'd be tempted to base lights/Injuns singularly.

That sounds a brilliant idea, Tim. The only thing that matters is that you're happy with the look of your troops. Any basing or organisation options can be accommodated.

I tried out my Minifigs on 45mm square bases. Six (3x2) looks good for me, but I rather like the tight shoulder to shoulder look.
