I know Airfix sets were branded HO/OO but that zebra appears to merge both scales into the same figure

However - the ICG are clearly based on the ‘Lilliput’ 1950’s Brit infantry figures, produced in 1/32 by Herald, Britain’s et al.
Therefore they’ve got a bit of heritage, and some retro appeal.

Same with the red Indians.

I remember my grandparents taking me on a day trip to Scarborough when I bought the Indians and the WW1 Americans set. Even at 8yr old my disappointment on opening the boxes was crushing.

I planned to recruit 4000 Zulus, the zebras make good donkeys, the hefalumps were ok, but I couldn't think of much use for hundreds of lions, giraffes and hippos.

Any AZW survivors could get taken to a wildlife park afterwards, as a treat.

Often overlooked, though: the 1/32 British Infantry Support Group set.
Water-cooled bickers, 3” mortars and an ‘acquired’ Yank bazooka for yer squaddies, along with ammo carriers, spotters, and tons of gubbins.

I’d have to quibble with water cooled bickers.

That the ISG was not available for such a long time added to its mystique.

The infantry combat group were ideal for Quatermass type stuff

A problem which has largely departed from most of this forum's members.

From memory, first there was the cowboys and Indians, then the ICG, then the Guards packs.
The original 8th Army, Afrika Korps and WWII Germans followed and they were much better detailed
Then came the civil war and US cavalry similar quality to 8th Army
Then the Robin Hood Sherrif of Nottingham, FFL and arabs
Then the WWI series, which were an enormous improvement on anything that had gone before
The Highlanders and cuirassiers and French Artillery were comparable to the WWI series.
Then came the later Wellingtonics which were vastly superior to anything that had gone on before
Then the rehashed WWII ones which were little masterpieces of detail.
