Yes, the keenest minds discarded the cave theory.
You're right Jeremy, Hilaire will be fine now he's about to undergo a remote ritual with two sweaty occult-obsessed rednecks.
Perhaps we just hold back and cap all 3 when they re-emerge?

Maybe blow the entrance with dynamite once the chanting starts.

All your lives have been spent in pursuit of archaeological relics. Inside the cave are treasures beyond your wildest aspirations. You want to see it as well as I. We are simply passing through history. This, this is history.

"Bolloc Talk" would be a great name for a Cthulu-based chat show, IMO.

There used to be a Cthulu based chat show on the BBC.

Oh, no sorry, it was Parkinson that I was thinking of, mind you, it was horrible.

Are you sure you're not confusing it with the Shoggoth on Saturday? Or was that Wogan?

So last night the heroes concluded - probably - Oklahoma. Derrick found a stash of racy pulp magazines in an abandoned farmhouse and left the others to it.

Hilaire went into the cave with the Preacher , and the Sheriff was left on guard. Until two shots from the hunting rifle exploded his head. The team had decided on diplomacy as the best approach.

Hilaire emerged from the cave looking slightly dazed to be confronted by a dead sheriff, Randall and Karina undressing the headless corpse of the Sheriff and putting his clothes on. The disguise was fragile until she put on his sunglasses creating an uncanny resemblance of the fat lawman.

The preacher came out of the cave and was perplexed to see what he thought was his bodyguard holding a pistol to Dr Singh's head. Karina lulled him into coming closer and then let him have two devastating shots from the .45 - one of which broke a fingernail and the other one really stung (like really ouch). Dr Singh adapted to the situation and let the man of god taste 3 fireballs from his serpent flame pistol.

After some discussion the heroes entered the tunnel and Hilaire bravely led the way. As he entered the chamber he fell to his knees in religious awe and began singing the praises of Yig. Randall looked past him to see the body of a much older Reverend Kornfield lying on a slab. His stomach distending and splitting apart as a new, younger Kornfield emerged from inside him with a murderous look in his eyes.

Much scrambling about, attempts to injure the body on the slab resulted in strange actions which did not harm it. Karina, somewhat frustrated tossed a stick of dynamite into the room to create a bit of pell mell and then Hilaire recovered his senses and ended the situation by shooting new Reverend in the head.

Karina looked into the room and also began singing the praises of Yig. He really is a nice chap that Yig.

With the old Reverend's body again bulging and the seed growing in its stomach the party returned to default mode - namely 10 sticks of dynamite tossed into the tunnel. This caused a total collapse of the tunnel and hopefully the chamber within.
-
Returning to the town the residents appeared to be coming slowly out of a dream. Not entirely sure what had been happening.

Some of the heroes returned early to New York. Karina sensibly checked that all the loose ends were tied up - and they appeared to be. Dr Singh visited Alice the librarian and promised her a new life in New York. She agreed and will come to join him with Mother as soon as things can be arranged.

Back at New York the debriefing was held. Meadham seemed to think that what happened in Oklahoma was a renegade heretic cult of Yig. Goncalves pointed out that it did not have the hallmarks of the work of Meadham's daughter as they had feared. They would send a follow-up team to Bingham to help the "changed" residents.

Straight into a new mission and a new briefing. The Snaefellsjokull volcano in Iceland has become active again and rumours are being told of attacks on local people by mythical trolls. Caduceus know that in millenia-past there used to be a serpent person base beneath Iceland and deduce that the possible "trolls'" are in fact Voormi - the serpent person slave race. Just to drive home the point they show the team a stuffed voormi that they have recently acquired. Both Randall and Hilaire have seen such a thing before.

The plane leaves tomorrow morning. But as the adventurers leave the Meadham building they are approached by the Casale, the mob enforcer. He invites them to dinner that night to meet his boss to a discuss interesting proposition. Dr Singh recalls the message he had from the mysterious Rose "If the Italians ask for help then give them assistance"……

So that’s it until next season…..
