Why should the buyer cover the risks instead of the Producer?
In a lot of cases, the producer has as they have already spent costs of figure design, mould costs etc. Most times the costs they’ve already sunk in far outweigh your £50 pledge.

These days KS are often used to find the casting costs.

In which case, they might as well just sell sell retail and cast to order, and not pay ks costs.
Very true IMHO

It's kinda in the name for me...it's supposed to be a Kick Starter for a project / company to bring new products to the market and surely the incentivisation should be earlier access to figure/whatever, with almost a pre-order discount. No difference from a larger more established company using a discounted pre-order campaign, which is usually the case.

At the end of the day, something is only worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it, so clearly in this case, it wasn't worth it for you, but might be to others 🤷

With regards to Jeremy's comments about small wargames companies you will note the vast majority DON'T use the crowdfunding business model.
They grow their businesses organically, not by 'get rich quick' schemes.

Didn't think that anyone with a wargames manufacturing business/company had any hope of ever getting rich! Maybe some make an adequate or decent living perhaps but I bet they are few and far between

Whilst net surfing found this.
I sent him an email last month asking him if he had any plans to release SSM classic SYW /AWI range, he was kind enough to
get back to me. Here is his reply/

Greetings,

Thank you so very much for your interest.

The entire catalog will be made available in phases. I am currently working on the Classic FPW range with Austrians. After that I plan to turn my attention to the WAS SSM figures and then likely the SSM ACW range although I'll admit I am intrigued by the Classic Dark Ages range as well.

Which figures are you looking for as I am a toy soldier collector and gamer first and will always try to cater to the demands of my fellow hobbyist.

cheers
Donald~
